Unless Daz tells me why its different for a race car :D

Your spot on fella :D, but often with the poorer quality boots on offer you need to use sealer on the boot joint when the joint is placed at the side,

the reason we put the joint at the top on race cars is, race cars don't do the mileage and the axles dont have the same range of movement as road cars so the buckling and splitting is not normally a problem, so we put them at the top to reduce the chance of leaks (marshall's dont like oil on track :x ) without having to use sealer on the joint which also makes it easier and cleaner come g/box repair time, too often on race cars

Cheers Daz, makes perfect sence when you put it like that.
Still got me street head on
Didn't mean to critisize Nige. Just trying to help :)

Nice work donkers...

Its looking less and less likely that I'll be running in the ACE this year due to my current financial woes....

My car may be together running and driving, but not really race ready (no cage, no built box) I might bring it along to some of the RWYB and take it steady.

Daz, and chance of us staging another Northern Drag Day, maybe combine the ASS shootout or ???

Have hadm some positive vibes for a York run from our local guys and also some of the Scots.

well quick update from me!

not looking likely that i'll make it in time for the first round but im gonna give it a bloody good bash! problem is im waiting for parts turning up and im not sure they'll all be here im time to get it running in time for it!

but we'll see!

motors back in for final mock up and so i can make the exhaust etc, waiting on the fuel lines/fittings turning up and some last bits from the various shops!

this is basicaly how it stands now!

Image

Image

exhaust is now fully welded and just needs cleaning up!, the wastegate pipe needs making next, and a couple of mounts for the bootlid! then its fuel systems, brakes, wiring and hopefully running by friday!

with a bit of luck anyway!

steve

Well thats the aim Jamie

Honestly tho mate i pulled the box and engine out the car 6 months ago, and left stuff laying about everywhere in my single garage..........just put the new box and rebuilt motor in, put the battery on and the bugger fired straight up 1st turn........ :D well happy...............just been out and done a 6 mile blast  today......no issues, no leaks, the box shifts really smooth and temps are fine................something has got to go wrong.......it just don't seem right.

cheers
